Mimi in the process of making yak butter soap

Kadhak (ཀ་དག།) means ‘primordially pure’ in Tibetan language. It describes the state of basic goodness which is true to all beings. As the name implies, Kadhak is dedicated to work towards creating a better world in our small way to make a lasting impact.

Kadhak is a socially conscious enterprise. Founded in 2018 to address limited opportunities for Tibetan women on the plateau. Without safe and sustainable opportunities for economic and life choices, women remain subjected to the outdated norms that define what they can and cannot do. At the same time Kadhak deeply value the harmonious, communal and nature-based way of life of our nomadic community and preserve these practices while sharing our traditional holistic culture.

Through engaging primarily women with near-home income opportunities and skill trainings that will enhance their economic independence and sometimes self-worth, Kadhak creates a range of locally sourced sustainable organic products while focusing on building awareness, cultural confidence and creative income opportunities that support cultural and environmental conservation while embracing positive change.

Kadhak’s vision highly aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and works within this framework to address some of the world’s biggest challenges. We have a responsibility to play our part in the society and by supporting the SDGs and create a better world for each and every person on this earth.

Yak Butter Handmade Soap

Our products are handmade with love and care using the most natural local ingredients like organic yak butter, organic yak milk, raw honey and herbs that are hand harvested in the wild. Even down to 90% of our packaging are compostable and biodegradable. We founded Kadhak not only to have a positive impact on the plateau but also to create an alternative choice for our customer to purchase an ethical sustainable product that is good for you and the environment.

Since the handmade soaps we make, have natural and organic ingredients in the soaps, it is good for the skin and the environment. Most commercial soaps available in the market today contain harsh chemicals such as sodium laureth sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate. They strip the natural oils and moisture off your skin, leaving them dry and prone to irritation. These chemicals pollute the water resources they end up. Hence, destroying the environment.

Natural ingredients in these handmade soaps like yak butter, raw honey, sea buckthorn essential oils are great for skin for their known properties. They are better for the environment because they are natural.
